Getting started with the Rødecaster PRO in the Hummingbird Studio

In our podcast recording studio, you'll find a powerful desktop computer with Windows 10 and the screenrecording software Camtasia. There is a professional microphone setup complete with a Podcast mixer that you can use. Moreover, there is a good quality webcam available should you want to address the camera during your recordings.

In this article, you’ll learn how to use the Rødecaster Pro podcast mixer.

1. Turn on the Rødecaster by pressing the red ON/OFF button (14) at the back of the device.

2. Ask each speaker to speak into their microphone; then, level the corresponding track via the Mic Channel Faders (2) to make sure each voice is equally loud.

3. If you want to use custom audio, use USB channel (9) to play sounds from the computer in the studio or ask the Educational Media team how to program sounds to the Sound Pads (7)

4. Use the Headphone Output Controls (5) to make sure each speaker has the desired audio output on their headphones.

5. Mute any channels you’re not using by pushing the red mute buttons (8) at the bottom of the device.

6. Press the Record Button (4) to start the recording.

7. To export your podcast, log onto the computer with the STUDI106 account. You can find the password behind you on the door.

8. Open the Rødecaster Pro app on the desktop. Click on “Podcasts".

9. Activate “Podcast Transfer Mode” by clicking the radio button, then clicking “OK”.

10. Scroll down and find your podcast. Click it, then click “Export” in the pop-up window.

11. Save the podcast to USB or the !TODAY! folder. Once saved in the !TODAY! Folder, you can use SURF Filesender (filesender.surf.nl) to send your podcast to yourself.

12. Tap “Done” on the Rødecaster before shutting down the device.
