How can I view a PhD candidate's portfolio?

General information

This manual describes the steps for viewing the PhD candidate’s registered training activities. At the end of the PhD trajectory, these activities result in the training portfolio. Hora Finita provides a report listing all training activities registered by the PhD candidate. These can be viewed individually, including the uploaded supporting documentation. For instance, the report can be used as part of the annual Progress & Development meeting.

Received a request by email to approve the PhD candidate's request to have the training portfolio assessed by the graduate school? Please consult the following manual: How to approve a portfolio request by the PhD candidate?

Depending on the current progress of the PhD candidate's PhD trajectory, different procedures are possible.

  1. The PhD candidate has registered all individual training activities in Hora Finita (new procedure since April 2026).
  2. The PhD candidate has compiled all training activities in one Final List document and is using the Certificate Request application.

This manual is part of the new procedure.

How to view the training portfolio of my PhD candidate?

1. In Hora Finita, select the PhD candidate to open the PhD dashboard.

2. On the right-hand side is the Portfolio: Training and professionalization section. Select “Open the training activities overview page”.

3. You can view the details of the training activities by opening them.

4. We recommend using the report function, which is located at the bottom of the page.

In the report, click on an item to view the details of a training activity. As a supervisor, you only have read-only access.

Note: In the procedure where the PhD candidate has compiled all training activities into a single document, there is only one record with the title ‘Final list’. As the first supervisor, the assessment of this document will have to take place outside Hora Finita. The procedure to be followed is agreed upon between the graduate school and the PhD candidate.
