Rubrics | How to use Rubrics to grade Assignments
You can use rubrics to evaluate assignment submissions and discussion activities. This article will show you an example of how to evaluate student assignments submissions using a rubric.

Be aware that editing a Rubric will no longer be possible when you start grading assignments using the Rubric. To make changes within the Rubric it needs to be de-linked from the Assignment and then linked back to the Assignment.
Evaluate an Assignment using Rubrics
Navigate to your course, in the green navigation bar
- Click on Assessments, a drop-down menu will appear
- Click on Assignments

- Click on the arrow next to the name of the assignment
- Click View Submissions

- Search for the name of the student you want to check the submissions for. In this case, click on the Dummy student Liz Bennett. This will lead you to the student submissions page. You can also directly open the file submitted by clicking on it.
- In the student submissions page, click on the file name to open it
- Click on the rubric name at the right side of the screen. This will open a new window with the rubric
8. (Optional) By clicking on the three dots next to [Rubric title] you can also bulk change the different scores of each category to the lowest or highest point. The final functionality Rubric Statistics shows you the score of the assignment per criteria and user.

9. To evaluate the student's submission, click on the Rubrics name and each level box for each criterion
10. Once all the levels are evaluated, click Publish. This will take you back to the student submission screen
Once you have completed the grading from Step 9-10, you will see the score received by the student.
11. (Optional) You can modify the Score manually
12. (Optional) You can provide Feedback
13. Click Update to save the changes
14. To continue evaluating other students, click on Back to Submissions
15. You can also choose to click on the right arrow to open the Student submission page of the next student
In the Grades page now you should be able to see the grade of the student synchronised.
16. Click Grades in the green navigation bar and Gradebook

This dummy student (Liz Bennett) received 9.17 points out of 10 available points fort the grade item 'assignment2'. In this example, the grade that is shown to the student is 9 according to the grading scheme that is set.
