Sowiso | How to use Sowiso in Brightspace
Sowiso is an online environment for practicing and examining math and statistics, offering students the ability to engage with exercises while receiving immediate help and feedback. Lecturers can create complex mathematical and statistical exercises that students can practice individually and as often as needed. Sowiso automatically evaluates answers, providing specific feedback and allowing students to demonstrate their mastery of various subjects.
Link your Sowiso class to your Brightspace course
It is possible to connect your Brightspace course to your Sowiso class. Students will get redirected and automatically enrolled to a Sowiso class based on the Brightspace course they are “coming from”.
Steps
Take the ID of the Brightspace course and put it into the corresponding class settings field in Sowiso → in this example that would be 220143:
- You find that class setting field under Teacher > Settings > Access code > Automatic access via LTI
- Generate a new Access code.
- Enter the Brightspace course ID and click Save.
Add Sowiso to your Brightspace course
- Go to the Content of your course
- Go to the Module (or create one) where you would like to create the entry point for SOWISO
- Go to Existing Activities > External Learning Tools > Select Sowiso LTI 1.3
Link to specific Sowiso content in your Brightspace course
You can also create links from Brightspace to Sowiso, which redirect students to specific content.
Steps
- Go to Course Tools > Course Admin > External Learning Tools
- Click New Link
- Select Deployment: Sowiso LTI 1.3 Deployment
- Name:
- A name for your unique content link, example 'Sowiso: Derivative of a power function'
- URL:
- Create a Custom Parameter:
- Name: url
- Value: For instance, when you want to link to theory with ID 38401, use the URL as /content/theory/38401
An example of all fields when creating a custom link:
Click Save & Close.
- Go to Content
- Go to Existing Activities > External Learning Tools
- From here you can choose the link that you've just created:
Your link will redirect students to the corresponding topic in Sowiso!
