The first step is to identify any video that is in your course, but not yet uploaded to YuJa.

1. Click on Content
2. Go through your (sub)modules
3. Brightspace videos have a specific icon in the content to be identified
4. Click on the video title to open it

1. Click on the wheel icon on the bottom right of the video player
2. Click on Download
3. The video will be saved to a folder of your choice or to your default download folder, depending on your device or browser settings.

Go back to your module overview (Module 1 in this example)

1. Click on Existing Activities
   A drop-down menu will appear. Scroll all the way down:
2. Click on YuJa Media Chooser 

The Media Chooser will open in a pop-up window.
To upload using the Media Chooser,

3. Select the tab Upload Media
4. (Optional) Click Add Schema Tags and fill in the information you want

5. Drag and drop the video you want to upload OR click Browse and locate the folder location where you saved the video in the previous step

You will be redirected to Choose media where you can see your video being processed.
Note: for large videos, it can take some time to process (the video shows a black screen), but nevertheless you can continue with the following steps:

1. Click on the video
2. Click on Insert Content

The video will be added to your content structure in Brightspace:
A YuJa video is stored as an External Learning Tool and a different icon:

After processing, the YuJa video is ready to be viewed!

You now have both the Brightspace video and the YuJa video in your content structure.
Now that video is stored and linked from YuJa, you need to remove video file itself from the Brightspace course.

1. Click on the drop-down icon next to the Brightspace video
2. Click on Delete Topic

3. IMPORTANT: You must ensure that the option "Permanently delete both the topic from Content and the associated file or activity from the course" is selected in order to delete the video file from the Brightspace course storage.
4. Click on Delete

The video has now been removed from your Brightspace course and you've successfully replaced it by transferring and linking it to YuJa! If you copy the course next year, the YuJa video links will still work.

Repeat steps 1-4 for the other videos in your course.

Once you have successfully transferred your videos to YuJa, there is one more check you can make to ensure that there are no 'unlinked' video files in your Brightpace course. Sometimes files are uploaded to Brightspace but not linked in the content structure.

The unlinked files are still stored in the 'Manage Files' section of the course and will be copied every time you copy the course!

So it's a good idea to clean up the videos in the Manage Files section of your course as well.

1. Click on Course Tools
2. Click on Manage Files

In the Manage Files tool your course, you may find videos that are still stored in your course but have not yet been removed or transferred.

1. You can navigate through the Manage Files tool by clicking on the menu structure (sometimes all files are stored in one folder).
2. You can sort files by size. Video files usually end in ".mp4", other video formats end in ".webm", ".avi" or ".wmv".
3. You can click on a video to download and watch it. If the video is still relevant, proceed to Step 3: Upload the video to YuJa , then:
4. Click Delete to remove the video from the Manage Files tool.

If you have followed steps 1-4, you may have noticed that it takes some time to transfer and remove a single video. Fortunately, there is a way to download/upload multiple videos at once:

In your course, click on Course Tools and click on Manage Files (just as in Additional check: Manage Files)

In the Manage Files section:

1. Use the filter function to filter by type: Video File
2. Select the videos you want to transfer to YuJa.
3. Click the Download button to download your videos in bulk.
4. Brightspace will generate a download link with all the video files you selected. Click the download link: a zip file will be saved to a folder of your choice or to your default download folder, depending on your device or browser settings.
5. On your device, unzip the videos to a local folder.

Proceed as in Step 3: Upload the video to YuJa, but this time select multiple videos to upload.

You can do this by selecting multiple videos with the CTRL key, or by selecting the videos and using drag and drop:

Multiple videos will be uploaded at the same time.
You can either:

1. Select multiple videos and click Insert Content
   • This will insert the selected videos directly into your Brightspace content structure.
2. Select multiple videos, click Embed as Dynamic Playlist, then click Insert Content.
   • This will insert the selected videos into your Brightspace content structure as a playlist. A playlist can be useful if you want to provide an overview of all the videos in your course, rather than linking to each video individually. This way your students will always be able to find the videos in one place, rather than having to search the course for them.

You have now taken the right steps to transfer and remove (large) video files from your course to YuJa.
You have reduced the overall size of your course and we really appreciate your efforts!
