Rubrics | How to associate a rubric with a Discussion topic

Once a rubric is created, it can be associated with an evaluation item, such as a Discussion topic. An existing rubric can be linked to a Discussion topic. Then users will be able to provide peer-feedback and grading.

This article will show you:

Be aware that editing will no longer be possible when a Rubric is associated with an Assignment from that moment. To make changes within the Rubric it needs to be de-associated from the Discussion topic and then associated back to the Discussion topic

Associating a Rubric with a Discussion Topic

Navigate to you course, in the green navigation bar,

  1. Click on Communication, a drop-down menu will appear
  2. Click on Discussions
navigate to discussions. Click communication and then discussions

This will open the Discussions homepage, in the Discussions list tab,

  1. Click on the downward arrow next to the discussion topic the Rubric needs to be associated with, a drop-down menu will appear
  2. Click on Edit Topic
In the discussion homepage, in the Discussions list click on the downward arrow next to the discussion topic, a drop-down menu will appear click on Edit Forum

This will open the Edit topic homepage,

  1. Click on the Assessment tab

 

Edit Topic homepage, click on the Assessment tab

In the Assessment tab,

  1. Click on Add Rubric
In the Assessment tab - click on Add Rubric

The pop-up window Select Rubric will appear,

  1. Select the Rubric that needs to be associated with the Discussion topic
  2. Click on Add Selected
The pop-up window Select Rubric will open, select the Rubric that needs to be associated with the Discussion topic, then Add Selected

The pop-up window will close, the selected Rubric will appear

  1. Click on Save and Close
The Rubric will appear and then click on Save and Close
