Course copy | How to copy Skills learning materials to your course
This article will show the steps you need to take to copy all or some components of the "Skills with examples" course into your own course. This way you will be able to add these activities wherever you want in the content of your course and use them easily.
This article shows how to:
Navigating to Import/Export/Copy Components
Follow these steps to create a course copy:
- Go to the course where you want to copy the content into (your course)
- Click on Course Tools
- Click on Course Admin

This will open the Course Administration homepage
- Click on Import/Export/Copy Components

Import/Export/Copy Components page
- Select Copy Components from another Org Unit
- Click on Search for offering

This will open a pop-up window to select a course:
- In the search box, type the course code "EDSC029_2025_0" or the course name "Skills with examples"
- Click on Search. The search results will appear in a table below
- Click the selectbox of the "Skills with examples" course
- Click on the Add Selected button
The pop-up window will close and you will be back to the Import/Export/Copy Components page:
- Select Copy Components from another Org Unit
- Check the option to Include protected resources
- Click the gray button Select Components to copy only certain components of the course

On the Copy Course Components page
Do NOT check Select all Components
- Check Content
- Select Select individual items to copy
- Check Include associated files
Do not check anything else
- Click Continue

In the Select Content Modules and Topics page you will be able to select which activities from the Skills course you want to copy to your course
- You can expand the components using the + and - buttons to see what activities are contained within.
- Select the specific items you want to copy from that category
- Click Continue
If you select a checkbox (for example Writing) without expanding the section you will copy all the components within that section

Select Course Material page
This next screen you can completely skip. Since the components on the Skill course do not have any dates selected there is no need to offset.
- Click on Finish

The course copy will be queued. This might take a few minutes, depending on the size of the course and the current load on the system. A tick icon will appear after the course copy has been successfully completed.

When the copy is completed, check the content in the target course to make sure nothing is missing, and all dates are set properly.
Take special notice of elements that are copied but will have reverted settings by checking the article section What will be copied?.
Rearrange Skills Content
Once everything is copied, at the bottom of the page:
- Click on View Content

This option will take you to the Content of your course, where you will see the newly added Skills components.
Here you can rearrange the new Skills components and move it where you prefer in your Content:
- Chick and hold the 8 dots icon to drag the Skills module to another place in your Content.
